Good morning fellow self-care adventure spirits! Can you believe only 11 more days of #40DaysOfSelfCare?!
Time has flown in some ways. And there have been moments I thought I’d never be able to meet personal timelines in getting these newsletters to you first thing in the morning.
And this is the topic of todays post about CLEANSE. Let’s clear out our calendars, stopwatches, and timers as they relate to our perspective of dreams and daily life.
Time is just sand in an hourglass. Life is the entire sandy beach.
Think about today’s schedule. View it from the perspective of the lines on your calendar and the running 24-hour stop watch.
Did you feel panicked about all you have TO DO today?
Now, reflect on your day. Reflect using the filters of your life goals, heart’s dreams, and the absolute knowing of your soul’s purpose.
Do you now feel excited about all you have to LIVE today?
When I am up against the clock with a deadline (such as these newsletters), I sometimes fall into a mindset of “gotta do or die”, instead of the heart space of “desire to do and live.”
This happened last night. I knew the theme of this post was about changing perspective about time and daily “to do” lists, as well as about time constraints versus creative possibility. Yet the words were evading me. So I decided to shoot the cover image.
In considering an image, I dug out my old 1970’s Pepsi watch. My Nana won two of them in a Pepsi giveaway. My sister Katie and I were the happy benefactors of the watches, which I imagined were worn with culottes, striped tee shirts, and knee socks.
My old timekeeper turned out to be my creative muse. Instant smile when I read the words on the face, “You’ve Got A Lot to Live”. (Click link for nostalgia or if you were not a child of the 70’s). The jingle’s words inspired this post and a little poem.
Time is fixed.
Choices & Space
I realized the best timing for me to write today’s post was today. Upon freeing myself from last night’s “timeline” which was only fixed in my mind, I made the very best choice that supported both my self-care and creative goals. By choosing early pillow time, I manifested the perfect creative space for writing this morning.
And this is my point regarding living in a space of “being” versus “doing”. Every second of the day, we have an opportunity to make choices. When we make choices that align with our heart’s dreams and goals, we free ourselves from time zones, constraints, and complaints.
Last night I caught myself becoming someone who was stressed about "doing" another newsletter. Clear signal it was best to choose something else, which was rest. This morning, I am “being” a writer and enjoying my soul’s calling and life dream.
My sweet childhood watch reminded me that the creative world is timeless. Funny, huh? Because as a kid, time seems endless. And perhaps, it IS. Deep down, beyond the watches and calendars, I ‘absoulutely’ know I will always have plenty of time to manifest my creative dreams and the work that is nearest and dearest to my heart.
Remember, when it comes to manifesting your creative dreams, there is no hourglass…only vast white sandy beaches along infinite oceans of creative magic.
Today’s Self-Care Adventure: When you feel the hot angry breath of the ticking time clock staring you straight-on with the evil eye, or the moans of the weary watch breathing down your neck, PAUSE. Close your eyes, as an act of resetting the clock and calendar. Take long, slow and deep breaths through nose. Exhale: The fears, anxiety, resistance, excuses, doubts, and “to do” lists. Inhale: Visions and feelings of your creative dreams. And, hum the jingle, “You’ve Got A Lot to Live”. Remember, no hourglass…only vast sandy beaches of creative magic.
