True Love Is Rooted In Self Care

June 27, 2015 KELLEN BRUGMAN

Tip #7 of our #40DaysOfSelfCare adventure is PAMPER.

The Free Dictionary definition of pamper is “to indulge with excessive attention, kindness and comfort.” Now add “to oneself” and you have the definition of pamper in our self-care adventure!

True love is rooted in self-care, and I believe that seed is germinated by the attention and kindness – pampering, we give to ourselves.

One of the most enjoyable ways to honor health and well-being is through the act of pampering ourselves. To pay attention to our body and mind, and to respond with kindness and comfort. To kindly delete “perfection” from the self-performance benchmark. And to rest in comfy nests when one feels weary.

Attention, kindness, and comfort nourish the body and mind with vitality and ease. When the body and mind are supported by vitality and grounded in ease, everything functions and flows better.

Rests in a garden hammock, monthly pedicures, restorative pose at bedtime, or reading at the beach are not indulgences. They are self-care investments in long-term health care goals!

Devote time each day to pamper yourself. Even five minutes of sweet self-care soothes the body, calms the mind, and fills the heart.

BIG hugs…

Kellen

Today’s Self-Care Adventure: Explore ways to pamper your self. Indulge yourself with excessive attention, kindness and comfort. Here are my top three ways to treat myself to exquisite pampering.

1. Attention. Soak up the self-care love by having someone else lavish you in attention. Duck in to an Aveda store for a free “Moment of Wellness”. Using their stress-relieving products, their well-being specialists provide free facials, as well as hand and neck/shoulder massages.

2. Kindness. The sight and smell of roses conjures up feelings of love, kindness, and affection. To treat myself to roses every day, I carry organic rose water spray in my handbag. A little spritz to my face or in my water bottle instantly softens any stressed mood and makes my heart smile.

3. Comfort. When my body feels weary and I need to attend an evening social event downtown, I treat myself to an Uber chauffeur ride. No fuss with traffic. No muss with parking. All I need to do is sit back and enjoy the ride.
