Rise and Shine Ayurveda Morning Tonic
This is my daily morning Ayurvedic tonic. It jump starts and cleanses the digestive system. It's loaded with essential vitamins and minerals. And, it incorporates the six tastes of sweet, salty, sour, pungent, bitter and astringent. Think of it as sunshine in a cup for your inner glow!
The key is to drink first thing, on an empty stomach, so the nutrients are immediately absorbed and easily assimilated into body. Besides tasting great, the many health benefits will have you raising your mug and saying “cheers”!!
2 Tbsp organic aloe vera Juice
½ fresh squeezed organic lemon
½ - 1 tsp organic honey
Add above to your favorite mug. Then pour 8-10 oz. warm water in and stir. Sip while doing a few yoga stretches or writing in your journal.
This tonic acts a detoxifier and rejuvenator for the digestive, elimination and lymph systems. It’s rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. It maintains healthy pH balance, due to it being alkaline. This drink, along with a morning pranayama practice, will bring more oxygen into your cells. A much healthier energizer than a cup o’joe!

Honey: Acts as “anupan”, carrying healing benefits of other ingredients into body’s tissues. Also, the synergistic effects of honey, lemon and warm water creates a scraping effect in the intestines and arteries. Excellent way to remove stagnation and toxins from the body.
